my mom has stage iv breast cancer which has basically been taking over her body for the past 7 years. currently they have given up on treatment and we have been told that her liver is failing. she was in the hospital for a week and has just been released because she wanted to be at home. she is only on mild pain medication to keep her comfortable. how long should she be expected to live in such disrepair?

That is a question that only God can answer?

  2. Specifically to help her. #1 a low glycemic diet (sounds crazy at this stage but the doctor can’t prescribe it so they don’t really know it) and #2 nutritional supplementation. Particullarly high in anti-oxidants, vitamin E, C, B-complexes, and biflavinoids and then hepasil DTX (it is a specific product not 1 vitamin) This will help. hanusak@yahoo.com I will reply with the science behind it all.

  3. Don’t concentrate on time as much as comfort. Try to get her a hospice referral. They will work to make her both comfortable physically and mentally. They will teach your family how to keep her comfortable as well.

Your mom’s time is limited. Her desire to keep going will effect her longevity. When her apin is greater than her desire to live she will choose what is appropriate.

As hard as it is to accept, there is a time to live and time to die. It truely stinks when death comes early and no one is ready. Your job is to support your Mom in whatever path she chooses. Time is relitiove. She will live until she chooses to give up, be it a week or a year.

    My thoughts are with you.

  4. My mom recently died of stage IV breast cancer. Actually, four weeks ago tomorrow on her 64th birthday. The cancer had spread to her liver, but she actually died of sepsis when they went to open her up for a few “simple” procedures. Once it spread to her liver, things started to go downhill fairly quickly. From what I’ve read, once it spreads to the liver, it could be 3-6 months, but I guess it depends.
